Kuldiga hospital suspends elective inpatient services amid pandemic
RIGA, Jan 5 (LETA) - Taking into consideration the epidemiological situation in Latvia, the hospital in the western Latvian city of Kuldiga is suspending elective inpatient services, including surgeries, day hospital services, as well as rehabilitation services, with some exceptions, the hospital's spokeswoman Signeta Lapina informed LETA.
Emergency medical assistance will still be provided to urgent patients.
Lapina said that endoscopic examination, except for cancer and emergency cases, will be suspended well.
The hospital's rehabilitation department will continue to provide assistance to urgent patients, assessing each situation separately.
The Kuldiga hospital's chief physician Svetlana Serpane said that the services suspended at the day hospital include minor surgeries and various gynecological manipulations, as well as other elective procedures. However, the hospital will continue to perform urgent surgeries, including Cesarean sections.
The hospital's staff will inform patients about the postponement of the scheduled procedures, Serpane said.
