Uldis Budrikis to be JKP leader in elections of Liepaja city council
RIGA, March 25 (LETA) - The New Conservative Party (JKP) has approved its ticket for the local elections of the Liepaja city council, and MP Uldis Budrukis will be No.1 on the list, LETA learned from JKP.
"Even though I have guaranteed job at the parliament, I have made a decision to run for Liepaja city council elections because I believe that Liepaja, my home, needs changes and the city can develop much faster, the local government can work better, spending tax-payers' money more efficiently," said Budrikis.
JKP and Budrikis promise to ensure transparent administration at the local council, the Special Economic Zone and capital companies. "The current council has brought the Special Economic Zone to a critical financial situation, the state has to interfere in order to support and keep Liepaja port "above water"," the party said in its statement.
The local elections will be held in June.
