Latvia's Green Party wins municipal elections in Saldus
Riga, June 8 (LETA) - Latvia's Green Party, represented by the incumbent mayor Maris Zusts, has won the local elections in Saldus municipality, according to preliminary data of the Central Election Commission (CVK) for all 26 polling stations in the municipality.
Latvia's Green Party received 37.7 percent of the votes, which would give it six seats at the council.
The second place with 34.53 percent of the votes goes to the political party Saldus municipality, which could also receive six seats. The third place with 9.43 percent of the votes goes to the National Alliance, which would receive two seats.
In the fourth place, with 6.24 percent of the votes, is the Union of Greens and Farmers, receiving one seat.
According to the preliminary data of the CVK, the other parties in Saldus municipality have not broken the 5 percent barrier. The party For Latvia's Development with 4.78 percent of the votes was closest to this threshold.
