All Latvian municipalities have adopted their budgets for 2025
Riga, Feb 19 (LETA) - All Latvian municipalities have adopted their 2025 budgets, representatives of the Finance Ministry told LETA.
On Wednesday, the municipality of Livani was the last to do so, thus completing the process of adopting municipal budgets across Latvia.
The ministry's experts, within the scope of their competence, provided consultations to the local governments that had requested them, informing them about the regulatory framework and the conditions for borrowing from the state budget.
According to the information available to the ministry, only Jelgava regional municipality is considering borrowing from the Treasury for short-term financial management. The ministry pointed out that Jelgava regional municipality has the right to receive a short-term loan for budget and financial management, but together with the loan request the municipality will have to submit an expenditure optimization plan approved by the local council.
