RIGA, Jun 4 (LETA) - Riga City Council plans to change the names of two committees, according to draft amendments to the municipality's statutes approved today by the council's Finance and Administration Committee.

Once the amendments are approved by Riga City Council, the Education, Culture and Sports Committee will be renamed the Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Committee.

The Communications and Transport Committee will be renamed the Spatial Planning and Mobility Committee.

The draft amendments to the statutes also provide for additional competencies. In addition to its previously defined responsibilities, the Spatial Planning and Mobility Committee will be tasked with developing micro-mobility infrastructure, as well as the development and maintenance of public open space.

The Commission for the Issuance of Permits for the Use of Municipal Paid Parking Spaces will be removed from the statutes, as it no longer exists.
