Riga, Dec 17 (LETA) - The Central Election Commission has approved the instructions for submitting the lists of candidates for the 2025 municipal elections, including that the lists can be submitted from March 19 to April 8, according to a notice in the official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.

The instruction sets out the procedure for preparing, submitting and registering the lists of candidates.

Along with other documents, a pre-election program signed by all the candidates on the list will have to be submitted.

The chairman or secretary of the electoral commission will organize the receipt and verification of the lists of candidates. A list of candidates submitted remotely and the documents accompanying it will be verified within one day of receipt and those submitted in person will be verified at the time of submission.

Once the lists have been registered, the commission will immediately send them to the Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs for verification, and will carry out the necessary checks in the State Unified Computerized Land Register and the Criminal Records Register, requesting additional information from the authorities if necessary.
