Heating tariff in Varaklani to increase twofold as of December
RIGA, Nov 10 (LETA) - Heating tariff in the town of Varaklani will double as of December 1, as Varaklani Region Council decided on Thursday.
The current heating tariff in Varaklani is EUR 51.10 per megawatt-hour (MWh), without value added tax. From December 1, the tariff will increase to EUR 103.41 per MWh, without VAT.
According to the municipality, the tariff will increase due to the rising costs of electricity, fuel, materials and labor.
The state will compensate 50 percent of the cost of heating exceeding EUR 58 per MWH, and the compensation will automatically apply until April 30, 2023, said Varaklani Region Council.
