Riga City Council allocates another EUR 100,000 in support for organization of EuroBasket 2025
RIGA, May 21 (LETA) - The Riga City Council today decided to increase by EUR 100,000 the municipality's support for the organization of the 2025 European Men's Basketball Championships (EuroBasket 2025).
The Riga City Council previously allocated EUR 1.5 million for the event. However, the Latvian Basketball Association is asking for an additional EUR 100,000 to ensure a high-quality and safe fan zone.
As explained to the City Council members, the fan zone should will be located one kilometer away from the arena to ensure that the flow of visitors is managed and complies with organizational standards.
A particularly high attendance of around 20,000 fans is expected, especially given the popularity of the Latvian and Estonian matches.
