Karins' government has not exhausted itself yet - president
RIGA, March 1 (LETA) - Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins' (New Unity) government has not exhausted, said Latvian President Egils Levits in an interview with commercial TV3 television.
The president said that every minister in the government is trying to do his best.
Levits believes that Karins' government has not exhausted itself, and its members will think and act what should be done in order to achieve the common goal.
"We should be aware that they are one team, each of them is playing his/her role in it. They should forget mutual misunderstandings. If compared to a hockey team - if it consists of stars only, it is hard to win, a victory can be achieved only in cooperation," the president said.
He said that cooperation among the government's ministers has not been as good as necessary. Still, Levits believes that the government members will find the right path.
Levits believes that the government should get ready for the third Covid-19 wave as warned by experts and other countries. Easing of restrictions, thus increasing contacts among people, is not the right way, at the same time, the president admits that some things might be changed without increasing contacts.
