Every fifth resident of Daugavpils is Latvian - statistics
Riga, Oct 11 (LETA) - At the beginning of this year, the share of Latvians in the population of Daugavpils, the second largest city in Latvia, was 21 percent, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (CSP).
Russians are the largest nationality represented in Daugavpils, with a 46 percent share.
The second largest nationality, Latvians, has an average share of 21 percent in Daugavpils. The third largest nationality in Daugavpils is Polish - 13 percent.
According to the Central Statistical Office, 78,300 people lived in Daugavpils at the beginning of this year. The average proportion of children under 17 years of age in Daugavpils is 18 percent.
