Fly Play operations center Play Lithuania to lay off all employees
VILNIUS, Feb 04, BNS - Play Lithuania, an operations center of Fly Play, the operator of the Icelandic low-cost carrier Play Airlines, which suspended operations last fall, is laying off all 22 employees.
The company has notified the Employment Service of the layoffs.
As reported by BNS, at the request of Play Lithuania's chief executive, the Vilnius Regional Court on December 30 opened bankruptcy proceedings against the company and froze all of its assets.
Last September, Play Airlines ceased operations, immediately grounding all flights. Fly Play said the decision was due to unsuccessful operating results, poor ticket sales and internal employee dissatisfaction after the company changed its strategy.
Play Airlines operated direct flights between Vilnius and Reykjavik.
