Guest nights spent at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments up 6.6% in ten months
RIGA, Dec 16 (LETA) - According to the Central Statistical Bureau data, guest nights spent at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments increased 6.6 percent to 4.332 million in the first ten months of this year compared to the respective period last year.
In October 2025 arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments totaled 206,800, which is 4.7 percent more than in October 2024. The number of nights spent by visitors at tourist accommodation establishments totaled 367,400, which is 6.5 percent more than in October 2024.
As the high season came to an end, in October 2025, compared to September, the number of travelers has decreased by 16.2 percent (the number of residents reduced by 6.4 percent, but the number of non-residents by 22.1 percent), the number of nights spent by them went down by 13 percent (the number of nights spent by residents reduced by 2.4 percent, but the number of nights spent by non-residents by 18.7 percent).
The number non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments made up 120,600 in October 2025 (58.3 percent of all arrivals), which is 1.2 percent more than in October 2024. The number of nights spent by non-residents, compared to October last year, has grown by 3.8 percent and comprised 224,400. Non-residents on average spent 1.9 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments (1.8 nights in October last year).
The greatest number of non-resident travelers came from Lithuania (15,000), Estonia (12,900), United Kingdom (12,500), Germany (10,100), Finland (7,400), Sweden (4,900), Poland (4,800), US (4,600), Spain and Denmark (4,300).
Compared to arrivals in October 2024, in October 2025 there was a significant increase in the number of visitors from the United Kingdom (an increase of 64.8 percent or 4,900) and from Italy (31.8 percent or 700).
Most non-resident travelers were accommodated in Riga (80.7 percent), followed by Jurmala (4.9 percent), Marupe municipality (4.3 percent), Liepaja municipality (1.9 percent), and Sigulda municipality (1 percent).
In October 2025 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 86,200 residents, which is a year-over-year increase of 9.8 percent. Residents spent 143,000 nights at the establishments, which is a month-over-month increase of 11 percent. Residents on average spent 1.7 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments (1.6 nights in October last year).
Mostly residents stayed in Riga (32.3 percent), Jurmala (11.7 percent), Liepaja (6.8 percent), Daugavpils (4.5 percent), Sigulda municipality (4.1 percent), Cesis municipality (4 percent) and Valmiera municipality (2.8 percent).
In October, average room occupancy rate of hotels and similar accommodation in Latvia was 43 percent (a year-over-year rise of 1.8 percentage points), 54.9 percent - in Riga (a year-over-year increase of 2.4 percentage points).
In the ten months of 2025 the number of visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 2.45 million, which is 4.9 percent more than in the first ten months of 2024. The number of nights spent by visitors has grown by 6.6 percent and comprised 4.33 million nights. Out of all visitors 1.46 million or 59.4 percent were non-residents, but 997,000 or 40.6 percent were residents.
