Supervisory board of Ziemelkurzeme Regional Hospital liquidated
Riga, Jan 7 (LETA) - Today, at an extraordinary meeting of the members of Ziemelkurzeme Regional Hospital, a decision was made to dissolve the hospital supervisory board, revising the management structure and redirecting the saved funds to the hospital's core business and development, Santa Koha, the hospital's public relations manager, informed LETA.
The decision provides for the removal of Igors Udodovs, Elina Kronkalne and Janis Gardovskis from their positions as members of the supervisory board, setting January 7 as the last day of their duties.
The supervisory board of Ziemelkurzeme Regional Hospital was established in December 2022 with the commencement of duties in January 2023 on the basis of the then applicable Law on Management of Public Entity Capital Shares and Capital Companies, which made the establishment of the supervisory board compulsory.
According to Koha, the current amendments to the law provide for the possibility not to establish the supervisory board if the consent of the highest decision-making body of the public body is obtained.
The assessment of the need for a council concluded that the hospital's shareholders are able to ensure the fulfilment of the company's governance obligations, including the quality and transparency of oversight, within the existing resources, without increasing the financial and administrative burden, the hospital spokesperson said.
Ziemelkurzeme Regional Hospital is a capital company owned by Ventspils municipality (87.96 percent), Talsi municipality (11.47 percent) and Riga Stradins University (0.57 percent).
According to Firmas.lv, the turnover of Ziemelkurzeme Regional Hospital last year was EUR 28.71 million, profit - EUR 736,526. The company was founded in 1995 and its share capital is EUR 7,364,520.
