14 foreigners denied entry into Latvia over weekend
Riga, Feb 16 (LETA) - From Friday until Sunday, a total of 14 foreigners were denied entry into Latvia, the State Border Guard informed LETA.
On Friday, one Tajik, one Turkish and one Uzbek citizen were denied entry to Latvia at the Riga Airport border checkpoint because they could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their entry and stay, and one Russian citizen because the foreigner did not have a valid travel document.
On Friday, two Moldovan and one Belarusian citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the Terehova and Grebneva border checkpoints for security reasons. They were returned to their countries of departure.
At the same time, on Saturday, one citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one citizen of Lithuania were refused entry to Latvia for security reasons at the Terehova border checkpoint. They were also returned to their countries of departure.
On Sunday, one Moldovan and one Georgian citizen were refused entry to Latvia at the Riga Airport border checkpoint because they could not justify the purpose and circumstances of their entry and stay.
At the Terehova, Grebneva and Paternieki border checkpoints, one Russian, one Israeli and one Belarusian citizen were refused entry to Latvia for security reasons. The persons were returned to their countries of departure.
On Friday, two Uzbek, one British and one Russian citizen were found to have violated the conditions of residence in Schengen area countries at the border checkpoints of Terehova and Riga Airport. They were held administratively liable.
On the same day, one Latvian citizen travelling to Egypt, who did not have a valid travel document, was denied exit from the country at Riga Airport's border checkpoint.
Four persons - three Estonian and one Lithuanian citizen - were found in breach of the rules of entry or residence during immigration control measures within the country.
For infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels, State Border Guard officials held nine persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border - three Lithuanian, two Belarusian, one Kazakh, one Mongolian, one Romanian and one Uzbek citizens.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, border guards at the Paternieki border checkppoint detected one Armenian citizen leaving Latvia who presented a forged Armenian driving license to border guards. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents.
Two Russian and one Kazakh citizens were also found at the Terehova and Paternieki border chechpoints to have violated the conditions for staying in Schengen countries. They were held administratively liable.
In the course of immigration control measures within the country, 12 persons were found in breach of the entry or residence conditions - eight Lithuanian, two Sudanese, one Russian and one Estonian nationals.
State Border Guard officials held 13 persons administratively liable or refused to cross the border for infringements in the field of vehicle and vessel operation - four Belarusian, three Lithuanian, one Latvian, one Estonian, one Kazakh, one Moldovan, one Serbian and one Uzbek citizen.
On Sunday, one Ukrainian and one Kyrgyz citizen were found to have violated the conditions of residence in Schengen area countries at the border crossing point of Terehova and Riga Airport. No administrative proceedings were initiated in the case of the Kyrgyz citizen, the other persons were held administratively liable.
On Sunday, at the Riga Airport border checkpoint, one Latvian citizen who was a minor leaving for Turkey was found to have not notarized consent of at least one parent for the child's departure from the country. The person was refused exit from the country.
Three persons - two Lithuanian and one Indian citizen - were found in breach of the rules on entry or residence during immigration control measures within the country on Sunday.
State Border Guard officials held 13 persons - four Moldovan, three Belarusian, three Serbian, two Kazakh and one Lithuanian - administratively liable or refused to cross the border for infringements in the field of operation of vehicles and vessels.
At the weekend, State Border Guard officers did not have to prevent attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian state border.
