Temperatures will drop to -30 degrees C on Sunday and early next week
Riga, Feb 13 (LETA) - After the snowfall, the weather in Latvia will clear up and cold air from the north will flow in, according to the weather forecast.
There will be fewer clouds, ground blizzard can be expected from the west of the country overnight. In Latgale, snow and blizzard conditions will continue until the morning, with a chance of thaw in the south of the region. Gusty northern, northeastern winds will cool the air to -9..-14 degrees C.
Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny. On Sunday morning, the air temperature will drop to -25..-30 degrees C in many places. During the day, as the sun warms up, temperatures will rise above -10 degrees C in most parts of the country.
Overnight on Monday, temperatures could also drop to -30 degrees C or even a degree below. Clouds are likely to cover parts of the country to protect against severe frost. The coldest temperatures are expected in the eastern regions early next week.
According to current forecasts, neither strong anticyclones nor active cyclones are expected next week. Snow clouds will cross Latvia on some days and temperatures will fluctuate between slight and severe frost.
