Registered unemployment level in Latvia down to 4.9% at end-May
RIGA, June 10 (LETA) - At the end of May, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 4.9 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.2 percentage points lower than a month earlier, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of May 2025, a total of 43,111 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, which is 1,750 fewer than a month earlier, when 44,861 unemployed people were registered with the agency.
The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of May was still in the Riga region - 3.7 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points less than a month earlier, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 10.5 percent, an decrease of 0.4 percentage points.
At the same time, in Kurzeme the registered unemployment rate at the end of May was 5.2 percent of the economically active population, 0.4 percentage point lower than a month earlier.
In Zemgale, the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent of the economically active population at the end of May, 0.3 percentage points lower than a month earlier, and in Vidzeme it was 4.4 percent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points.
At the end of 2024, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.3 percent of the economically active population.
