    First budget of Valmiera municipality aimed at completion of started projects, preparation for new EU funds period

    RIGA, Feb 4 (LETA) - The first budget of the new Valmiera municipality is aimed at completion of the started projects and preparation for the new 2021-2027 EU funds planning period, local council's spokeswoman Kristine Melece told LETA.

    Valmiera regional council lawmakers on Thursday adopted the 2022 budget unanimously.

    Valmiera municipality chairman Janis Baiks (For Valmiera and Vidzeme) said that the first budget is balanced and aimed at a unified and strategic development of the municipality this year and in a long term.

    The revenue to the budget is projected at EUR 102.3 million. The main source of revenue is tax revenue, planned at EUR 38.53 million, mostly personal income tax and property tax.

    Budget expenditure is projected at EUR 110.8 million, divided into nine functional categories - education, maintenance of municipal territories and housing, recreation, culture and religion, social protection, economic activities, executive institutions, environment protection, public order and security, health.
