Residents of Rezekne will have to pay almost EUR 200 per MWh for heating starting from May
RIGA, April 25 (LETA) - Residents of Rezekne starting from May 1 will have to pay almost EUR 200 per MWh (excluding value added tax) for heating, according to the decision made by the Public Utilities Commission.
From May 1 until December 31, 2002, the heating tariff of Rezeknes Siltumtikli will be set at EUR 198.13 per MWh which is 4.6 times more than the current tariff of EUR 42.8.
Meanwhile, the tariff will be slightly lower as of January 1, 2023 - at EUR 195.88 per MWh.
Rezekne state city council said earlier that the company's contract with joint-stock gas utility Latvijas Gaze for natural gas supplies, which was concluded "on favorable terms for the city", will expire in April.
According to the municipality, thanks to the contract with Latvijas Gaze the city was able to maintain a low heating tariff this heating season, while tariffs in other Latvian cities have increased significantly.
