RIGA, Sept 18 (LETA) - Riga public transport carried 9.2 million passengers in August, which is 1.4 percent more than in the same month last year, Baiba Bartasevica-Feldmane, Head of the Public Relations Department of the municipal passenger transportation company Riga Satiksme, told LETA.

The most popular tram route is route 1, which carried 910,000 passengers.

The most popular bus route is route 3, with 563,656 passengers, while the highest number of trolleybus passengers in August was on route 4 - 492,154 passengers.

In total, 4,154,107 bus passengers, 3,051,075 trolleybus passengers and 2,017,946 tram passengers were carried in August.

Over 2,500 passengers used the night bus routes during the August weekends.

As LETA reported, Rigas Satiksme municipal transport company closed 2024 with EUR 193.315 million in unaudited turnover, which is an increase of 5 percent against a year before, while the company's profit shrank manifold to EUR 93,608.

Rigas Satiksme provides passenger transportation by buses, trams and trolleybuses in Riga, as well as manages parking lots and parking spaces.
