RIGA, Nov 1 (LETA) - Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks (RNP) municipal housing manager might have to fire more than 200 employees who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19, the company's representative Una Grenevica reported.

RNP reported that it has achieved a good vaccination rate - about 90 percent of its employees are vaccinated against Covid-19.

RNP now is analyzing a possibility to recruit only vaccinated people, and looking for ways to ensure changes in service provision, applying mechanized solutions in order to reduce the impact of labor shortage.

Even though there are employees who do not wish to get vaccinated in almost all jobs and positions, a significant share of them work in cleaning services.

Also, employees being sick and the quarantine requirement for Covid-19 contacts lean an additional negative impact on service provision.

"The priority of our company is safety and health of our clients and employees. As a socially responsible company, fully supporting the fight against the pandemic, we have held a communication campaign, informing clients and employees about vaccination possibilities. Unfortunately, it is clear that there is a share of employees who do not wish to get vaccinated," said the company's head Ronalds Neimanis.

He said that it will not be possible to fill all work places in a short term, therefore the company is looking for alternative solutions and use of technology in cleaning. The company believes that there will be about 250 vacancies soon.

RNP, which belongs to the Riga City Council, in 2020 posted EUR 4.6 million in loss, while the company's turnover dropped 13 percent to EUR 55.6 million.
