Number of foreign ship calls to Latvian ports down by 7% in 11 months
RIGA, Dec 2 (LETA) - In the first 11 months of this year, foreign ships have called at Latvian ports 4,901 times, which is 7 percent less than in the same period last year, representatives of the Latvian Maritime Administration informed LETA.
In the Riga port, the number of foreign ships arrivals decreased by 6.7 percent, in the port of Liepaja - by 4.9 percent, and in the port of Ventspils - by 2.1 percent.
At the same time, 280,348 passengers arrived in Latvian ports in the first 11 months of this year, 16 percent more than in the same period last year.
As reported, in 2024 foreign ships called at Latvian ports 5,736 times, which is 2.9 percent less than in 2023.
The Latvian Maritime Administration was established in 1994.
