RIGA, Dec 16 (LETA) - Gulbene municipality still remains the Latvian municipality with the highest Covid-19 incidence, and the rate of infections is also high in the municipalities of Salaspils and Ventspils, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

Latvia's cumulative two-week number of Covid-19 cases has increased to 505.1 per 100,000 population. In the past day, Covid-19 incidence in Gulbene municipality declined from 968.4 to 932.8 cases per 100,000 population.

In Ventspils municipality, Covid-19 incidence rose from 695.9 to 705.2 cases per 100,000 population, and in Salaspils municipality, the rate of infections dropped from 909.6 to 879 cases per 100,000 population.

In 16 municipalities, the number of active Covid-19 infections currently exceed Latvia's average rate.

Of the 934 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia in the past 24 hours, 46 percent, or 429 cases, have been recorded in Riga.
