Accommodation facilities for Ukrainian refugees in Jelgava municipality filled to capacity
RIGA, June 27 (LETA) - In the central Latvian municipality of Jelgava, accommodation facilities for Ukrainian refugees have been filled up to capacity, Jelgava regional council chairman Madars Lasmanis (For Latvia's Development) told LETA.
The local government does not plan to change accommodation facilities for refugees as the state support decreases because refugees have been placed in municipal institutions and hostels.
Lasmanis said that it is hard to predict the situation after a new influx of refugees, but right now the situation is stable. "The state has compensated all municipal expenses. The local government is using sports facilities and service hostels to accommodate refugees from Ukraine and they have all been filled to capacity," he said.
