Riga, July 25 (LETA) - Taking into account the request of the state property manager Valsts Nekustamie Ipasumi (VNI), the Ventspils City Council has once again agreed in principle to participate in the affordable rental apartment program Rental Housing for Latvian Professionals, identifying the demand for 120 apartments in Ventspils, the local government informed LETA.

The plots of land owned by the municipality have been selected by experts for participation in the program.

The program aims to ensure the construction of new housing stock in municipalities in the shortest possible time and of the highest quality.

The project is designed on a model, according t which a private partner designs, builds, finances, maintains, manages the property, with the public sector affordability payment being included in the state and municipal budget expenditure from 2030, alongside the affordability of the houses for the residents. The program also provides that at the end of the project, municipalities will receive ownership of the land with the built housing, the municipality explains.
