Lot draw determines ballot order of electoral lists in 15th Saeima elections
RIGA, July 6 (LETA) - The alliance of Sovereign Power and New Latvians will be electoral list number one in the 15th Saeima elections, while the Progressives will run in the elections as electoral list number 14, according to the results of a lot draw held by the Central Election Commission on Monday.
Political parties drew their lot numbers in the order in which they had registered their electoral lists. Consequently, representatives of Rising Sun for Latvia were the first to draw the lot, while representatives of For the Development of Latvia, who drew number 11, were the last.
Representatives of Rising Sun for Latvia and the National Alliance had arrived at the event wearing traditional folk costumes.
When the alliance of Sovereign Power and New Latvians drew number one, the hall erupted in applause and cheers.
We Are Changing the Rules (MMN) drew number two, Harmony Center drew number three, the Union of Greens and Farmers drew number four, the National Alliance drew number five, Gobzems' List drew number six, and the United List drew number seven.
Latvia First (LPV) drew number eight, New Unity drew number nine, New Conservative Party drew number 10, For the Development of Latvia drew number 11, the Rising Sun for Latvia drew number 12, and Stability drew number 13.
The Progressives party will run under the final number, 14, in the upcoming parliamentary election.
The 15th Saeima elections are scheduled for early October.
