Ogre to sign cooperation agreement with the Latvian Association of Large Cities

RIGA, April 13 (LETA) - Ogre will sign a cooperation agreement with the Latvian Association of Large Cities (LLPA) spokesman Kaspars Licitis reported.

As the new Law On Administrative Territories and Populated Areas adopted on June 10, 2020, provides that Ogre city now has a status of a state city, it has the right to become a full bodied member of LLPA after the municipal elections this year.

Until the elections, Ogre county council has been invited to cooperate with the association on ground of a cooperation agreement. It means that Ogre representatives will be able to participate in the association's meetings, voiced their opinion on any of the issues, but will have no voting rights and will not have to pay a membership fee for now.

LLPA was established in 2001, and its members are nine largest cities in Latvia - Daugabpils, Jekabpils, Jelgava, Jurmala, Liepaja, Rezekne, Riga, Vemtspils and Valmiera.
