Adazi regional council bans growing GMOs in municipality
RIGA, Jan 20 (LETA) - Adazi regional council has decided to ban growing GMOs in the municipality, according to a statement published on Latvia's official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.
So far regulations, banning growing of GMOs, had been in force in Carnikava municipality and Adazi municipality. Now both territories have been merged and new regulations had to be adopted for the new Adazi administrative territory.
The regional council said that growing of GMOs causes a potential negative impact on specially protected territories and biotopes in the municipality.
