Unemployment level slowly drops, number of vacancies grows
RIGA, April 4 (LETA) - Registered unemployment level has been declining slowly, the number of vacancies has been growing, said State Employment Agency director Eva Simsone in an interview with the Latvian public television today.
At present, the unemployment level in Latvia is not alarming, and there are no any negative trends in the market. Unemployment levels started declining starting from the middle of February, and in March it reached 6.7 percent. NVA has registered more than 60,000 jobless people.
The situation is not changing in regions much - unemployment level in Riga is 4 percent, while in Latgale - 14 percent, and such a difference in unemployment levels has been reported for a long period of time.
The number of registered vacancies has increased 30,000 with more than 14,000 vacancies registered in March alone. Vacancies are mostly registered in construction, manufacturing, logistics.
Simsone also said that the bureaucratic obstacles for Ukrainian refugees have been reduced to the minimums so that they may start employment.
