RIGA, Oct 4 (LETA) - The council chairman of Dobele municipality, Edgars Gaigals (National Alliance), was removed from office on Monday, LETA was told at the council. 

Gaigals was deposed at a council meeting which was called at the request of the opposition Union of Greens and Farmers. 

Ivars Gorskis (Greens/Farmers) was elected the new mayor of Dobele municipality.

Opposition councilors have proposed replacing Gaigals' two deputies as well. 

Gaigals had been elected mayor of Dobele municipality by ten votes, leaving Greens/Farmers, the municipality's former ruling party, in opposition.
