Riga Hospital No.2 has started to recruit Ukrainian medics
RIGA, May 5 (LETA) - Riga Hospital No.2 has started to recruit medics from Ukraine and plans construction of a new building, the hospital's board chairman Sandris Petronis told the press on Thursday.
He said that the hospital not only is treating Ukrainian citizens, but is also open for recruitment. At present the hospital has already recruited a traumatologist-orthopedist, a nurse, a nurse in the surgical unit, a cleaner from Ukraine. Petronis said that the Ukrainians have been able to integrate and adapt to the work at the hospital.
Petronis also informed that, despite the impact of the pandemic, last year's financial indicators were good and the hospital closed the year with a profit.
Last year the hospital registered 12,821 patients at the hospital admission and 13,618 patients at the polyclinics. 3,354 patients received hospital treatment, and 2,916 surgeries were performed at the hospital last year.
The hospital made EUR 414,867 investments in medical equipment.
Petronis said that the hospital every year is making improvements in the infrastructure of buildings built in 1911. However, in order to improve provision of services, a new building block is necessary.
The hospital's development has been included also in Riga development plan.
Riga Hospital No. 2 has been specializing in traumatology and orthopedics since 1959, providing full scope of diagnostics and treatment and round the clock emergency assistance.
The hospital belongs to the Riga City Council. According to Firmas.lv, in 2020 the hospital turned over EUR 7,463,813 and earned EUR 270,848 in profit. Petronis said in a press conference that last year's turnover reached about EUR 9 million.
