Registered unemployment in Latvia at 5% at end-July
RIGA, Aug 11 (LETA) - The registered unemployment rate in Latvia at the end of July this year was 5 percent of the economically active population, the same as in June, the State Employment Agency (NVA) said on Monday.
At the end of July 2025, a total of 43,894 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, 480 more than a month earlier, when 43,414 unemployed people were registered with the agency.
The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of July was still in the Riga region - 3.9 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage point more than a month earlier, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 10.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points.
At the same time, in Kurzeme the registered unemployment rate at the end of July was 5.3 percent of the economically active population, the same as in June.
In Zemgale, the unemployment rate at the end of July remained unchanged at 4.7 percent of the economically active population, while in Vidzeme the unemployment rate at the end of July was 4.5 percent, 0.1 percentage points more than in June.
At the end of 2024, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.3 percent of the economically active population.
