Saeima amends law, including Skulte county in Limbazi region, to meet Constitutional Court's ruling
RIGA, March 18 (LETA) - Saeima today in the final reading adopted amendments to the Law on Administrative Territories and Populated Areas, including Skulte county in Limbazi region.
The amendments were initiated, based on the Constitutional Court ruling of March 12, that merging Skulte county with Saulkrasti region was unconstitutional.
"These are the minimum amendments necessary to merge Skulte county in Limbazi region as soon as possible. Three months have been left until the local elections, therefore there should be a clarity about the election territory," said Juris Puce (For Development), the chairman of the Saeima committee on the administrative territorial reform.
