Dumpis is more concerned about pre-election campaigns than election procedure in relation to epidemiological risks
RIGA, Feb 9 (LETA) - Health Ministry's chief infectologist Uga Dumpis is more concerned about pre-election campaigns than about the election procedure in relation to epidemiological risks.
Dumpis in an interview with Latvijas Avize daily, when asked whether the elections can be held safely, he voiced hopes that in June the epidemiological situation in the country will be better. "By that time, employees of polling stations will be vaccinated," he said.
Dumpis said that he is not worried about the situation in polling stations, but about politicians' decisions before the elections, pre-election campaigns, and whether it will not mean larger gathering of people.
As reported, ruling coalition parties have started discussions on a possibility to postpone the municipal elections scheduled for June.
