Dundaga local council to convene repeated extraordinary meeting to elect chairman
RIGA, Feb 4 (LETA) - Dundaga local council today will hold a repeated extraordinary meeting to elect a chairman, according to information on the internet website of the local council.
As reported, Dundaga local council on Wednesday held three extraordinary meetings, but failed to elect the chairman. The first meeting was attended by all nine lawmakers, and five of them voted against the only candidate for the post - Andra Grivane from Let's Work Together party.
None of the five lawmakers, representing For Our People party, represented by former council chairman Aldis Felts, attended two following council meetings, therefore the voting could not take place.
Felts and his deputy Janis Maurins on January 27 stepped down from their position. The local council chief accountant Ilze Pirvite said that at present there is no one with signature rights in the council and the council may not pay any bills. She said that on Monday, February 8, wages should be paid in the municipality, but it cannot be done without a council chairman.
