Movement For to run for municipal elections in six municipalities
Riga, Jan 13 (LETA) - Movement For plans to run in six municipalities - Riga, Liepaja, Jelgava, Ogre and Rezekne districts and Ventspils - for the municipal elections, the party's executive director Miks Celmins told LETA.
The party is currently negotiating cooperation with other parties. More clarity on this could be available at the end of January, Celmins said.
"Riga is one of the municipalities where we are looking to be able to build as big a joint list as possible by running with other parties to prevent Ainars Slesers [Latvia First] from becoming the mayor of Riga," said the executive director of For.
Jelgava municipality currently has two For lawmakers, Uldis Dumins and Martins Dagis, who will also run in the municipal elections in June. Celmins admitted that Dumins could be the leader of the party's list in Jelgava.
Similarly, Dace Bluke, the current Liepaja municipal deputy, could be the leader of the list in Liepaja.
Local elections will be held in June.
