Number of yachts calling at Liepaja Marina has slightly increased this year
Riga, Nov 10 (LETA) - The Liepaja Marina has serviced 243 yachts this year, which is by 15 yachts more than in last year's yachting season, according to information on the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority's website.
The port pointed out that the active yachting season traditionally ended in November. All months of the season saw an increase in the number of yachts handled, except for July, which was traditionally one of the busiest months.
In June, 64 yachts were serviced in Liepaja Marina, in July - 70, and in August - 57 yachts. Most of the yachts were from Lithuania and Poland, but there were also yachts from countries as far away as Chile, Australia and New Zealand.
Liepaja Marina manager Karlis Kints points out that the number of yachts handled is higher than last year and yachts often stay for more than one night.
The Liepaja SEZ Authority took over the management of the Liepaja Marina in 2015, while in 2020 the reconstruction of the marina began with the construction of new infrastructure, including a new service building, which allowed to increase the level of services provided by the marina to sailors.
As reported, in 2023 the Port of Liepaja handled a total of 7.232 million tons of cargo, which is 4.9 percent less than in 2023.
The Port of Liepaja is the third largest port in Latvia in terms of cargo handled.
