More than EUR 80,000 paid in benefits to Ukrainian refugees in Liepaja
RIGA, April 4 (LETA) - More than EUR 80,000 have been paid in benefits to Ukrainian refugees in Liepaja, LETA learned from Liepaja local administration representative Zita Lazdane.
By April 1, Liepaja social service has paid EUR 81,300 in guaranteed minimum income and crisis benefits to refugees from Ukraine. Guaranteed minimum income has been paid to 317 persons from 138 families, while crisis benefits have been paid to 272 people from 126 households.
A refugee registration center in Liepaja ensures registration of refugees, assistance in preparing documents for visa or residence permits, consultations.
As reported, from March 28 until April 1, Liepaja and Dienvidkurzeme municipalities have registered 862 refugees. 49 children have been found places in Liepaja schools and 32 children have been places in preschools.
As many as 33 people have been accommodated in Liepaja hotels, 35 in premises provided by Dienvidkurzeme local government, others are staying in private rental apartments or with relatives and acquaintances.
