Riga, March 18 (LETA) - Ropazi municipality has purchased power supply equipment - a generator and batteries - for two Ukrainian towns, LETA was informed.

In response to the pressing needs of the municipality's cooperation towns in Ukraine - Boyarka and Nizhyn - and the severe energy crisis caused by Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ropazi municipal council has decided to support purchase and delivery of energy supply equipment - generators and batteries - to these towns.

In view of the Russian attacks on the Ukrainian power system, which have resulted in frequent power cuts throughout the day in the twin towns, the municipality continues to provide assistance to Boyarka by delivering a diesel generator together with an appropriate trailer for its transport. For Nizhyn, an energy storage system - batteries and control units - has been provided to ensure the functioning of the local executive authorities.

In addition to the energy solutions, the municipality is also donating a car for this trip, which has previously been used for municipal functions.

The cooperation with Boyarka started in 2023 and with Nizhyn in early 2026.

The municipality thanks the residents of the municipality who, since the beginning of the war, have responded to various donation campaigns to support the residents of the municipality's twin towns in the context of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

Since 2023, the municipality of Ropazi has been organizing summer camps for children whose parents are at the front or have died in the war.
