RIGA, Oct 2 (LETA) - The Union of Greens and Farmers has won the elections in Ventspils with 38.11 percent of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission.

New Unity placed second with 11.62 percent of the vote, the United List is third with 9.24 percent and the National Alliance fourth with 5.22 percent of the vote.

Other parties have failed to overcome the 5 percent hurdle in Ventspils.

In total, 15,414 citizens voted in 12 polling stations in Ventspils, of which 5,868 voted for Greens/Farmers.

As reported, New Unity, Greens/Farmers and the United List are in the lead with 51.1 percent of the votes counted: Unity has been supported by 17.75 percent of voters, Greens/Farmers by 15.3 percent and the United List by 10.82 percent of voters.

LETA also reported, a total of 912,180 voters or 59.14 percent of eligible voters in Latvia participated in the 14th Saeima elections.
