RIGA, May 31 (LETA) - Members of the Riga City Council traffic and transport committee next week will decide on the extension of the single ticket pilot project between Riga Satiksme municipal public transport company and Pasazieru Vilciens passenger train until the end of the year, according to the agenda of the committee meeting.

The pilot project is scheduled to run until December 31, 2026.

The city council will instruct Rigas Satiksme to submit an interim report on the results of the pilot project for the period since its launch to the department for spatial planning and mobility and the department of finance by November 10.

Other train zones are also to be added to the single ticket, according to a decision of the public transport council.

Currently, the single ticket, priced at EUR 2, allows citizens to use it for journeys both on public transport in Riga city and on trains within Riga territory, i.e. in zone A of the rail routes, including connecting journeys within this zone.

On Monday, the public transport council endorsed changes proposed by the Road Transport Directorate (ATD) to the pilot project of Rigas Satiksme and Pasazieru Vilciens, which extends the single ticket zone from Zone A to other train zones. According to the directorate, this would also allow people who live in Pieriga but use several modes of transport to get to work to use the ticket on a daily basis.

Therefore, Pasazieru Vilciens and Rigas Satiksme need to make changes and agree on the implementation of the measures.

The single ticket was introduced on July 15, 2025.
