International digital services company Webhelp has launched operations in Daugavpils
RIGA, Feb 1 (LETA) - In January, international digital services company Webhelp has launched operations in the premises of Daugavpils University, LETA learned from the Latvian Investments and Development Agency (LIAA).
LIAA said that at present 60 employees are being trained, but in the nearest future the number of employees will be increased.
"International business services center sector is growing in Latvia, and at present there are 50 companies working in this sector with about 15,000 employees. Almost all these companies are located in Riga or Pieriga, therefore we are happy that Webhelp has decided to open its office in Daugavpils, proving that successful development is also possible in regions," said LIAA Kaspars Rozkalns.
Daugavpils city council chairman Igors Prelatovs underscored that this is an opportunity for many residents to work in their city.
Webhelp Latvia executive director Janis Misans explained that the company decided to open its office in Daugavpils, considering availability of employees and the city's geographic location.
Webhelp specializes in customer service and payment management, sales and marketing services, using voice, social and digital channels.
Webhelp Latvia was registered in Latvia in 2017, and has a share capital of EUR 3,000, according to Firmas.lv. Its sole owner is Swedish Webhelp Scandinavia, while the beneficial owner is a French national.
In 2019, Webhelp Latvia generated EUR 7.967 million in turnover, up 27.7 percent from a year ago, while the company's loss reached EUR 901,933.
Webhelp is represented in 50 countries with 150 offices, and the company's aggregate turnover reached EUR 1.5 billion in 2019.
