Riga to buy drones and sound level meters for municipal police
RIGA, July 14 (LETA) - The local government of Riga City will use EUR 50,000 of the municipal innovation fund to purchase unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or drones, as well as sound level meters for the capital city's municipal police, LETA was told at the Riga City Hall's press office.
The Latvian capital will spend EUR 32,194 on the drones for all territorial divisions and specialized departments of the Riga Municipal Police.
Two drones will be equipped with thermal cameras for operation in dark so cops can clamp down on people who pollute the city's remote areas at night and on poachers.
The Riga Municipal Police already has three drones which are used to prevent environmental offenses.
