Riga, March 11 (LETA) - The Central Financial and Contracting Agency (CFLA) has announced an open call for projects, inviting local governments to apply for support from the European Union (EU) funds for the establishment and rehabilitation of infrastructure aimed at local governments' adaptation to climate change and reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change, CFLA informed LETA.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding available for the second round is EUR 9.26 million.

The program, developed by the Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry, will support investments in creation and rehabilitation of infrastructure, as well as in ensuring its functionality, prioritizing use of green infrastructure, such as riverbank strengthening, erosion mitigation measures, urban wetland creation and other actions.

The ERDF will finance up to 85 percent of the total eligible project costs.

The minimum funding per project is EUR 200,000, while the maximum EU funding per project is EUR 3 million. Projects must be completed by the end of 2029.

CFLA will accept project applications until July 8, 2026.

In the first selection round, municipalities submitted 23 projects to be implemented by the end of 2027.
