(w/ADD) Reconstruction of Vansu Bridge will cost EUR 69.8 million
(adds more information)
Riga, Dec 2 (LETA) - The reconstruction of Vansu (Suspension) Bridge will cost EUR 69,802,998, according to information published in the Electronic Procurement System.
The municipality has chosen the supplier association Vansu Tilts as the winner of the tender on Vansu Bridge reconstruction, design and supervision. The association includes Hanza Construction Group, Tilts and Baltic artificial structures design bureau Vektors T.
Riga Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs (Progressives) pointed out that this time the offer is significantly better.
"The new contract is worth EUR 69.8 million, while last year the only bid submitted was almost EUR 100 million, which is why the tender was cancelled," reminded the mayor.
He also stresses that "after several negotiations with the Finance Ministry, the necessary funding has been secured to move forward with confidence and plan for construction in 2027".
The total length of the Vansu Bridge is 593.6 meters, with a main pylon height of 108.7 meters.
The project includes the resurfacing of the lanes, the construction of a shared pedestrian zone and cycle infrastructure. The bridge railings will be restored to their previous height of 1.3 meters.
The width of the cycle track on both sides of the bridge will be 2.5 meters and will be separated from the footpaths by a raised platform.
The project also includes the replacement of the suspension cables. The total weight of the new cables will be 385.5 tons.
According to Firmas.lv, Hanza Construction Group's turnover in 2024 was EUR 37,861,377, and its profit - EUR 9,404,114. The owner of the company is Aleksejs Bakanovs.
Tilts' turnover last year was EUR 54,115,683 and its profit was EUR 3,733,369. The company is owned by Artjoms and Sergejs Gridnevs.
The turnover of Vektors T, owned by Aleksandrs Varavvs, was EUR 708,624 in 2024, while the profit amounted to EUR 2,654.
As reported, two bidders applied for the tender to rebuild the bridge.
Vansu Tilts association of suppliers submitted a bid for EUR 69,802,998.
Meanwhile, association BBVA, which includes Baltijas Buve, Abora, Latvian-Lithuanian joint venture Viadukts and general partnership 3A, offered to reconstruct the bridge for EUR 70,327,026.
The first tender for the bridge's reconstruction, organized last year, was cancelled because only one tenderer applied, whose offer exceeded the financial possibilities of Riga City Council.
In the light of the result of the first tender, the requirements of the open tender regulations were revised and clarified in order to encourage more interest from bidders and ensure greater competition.
Riga has a total of 145 bridges, overpasses and pedestrian tunnels. Some of them are in needs of repair.
