Number of events and concerts take place in Riga today to mark Latvia's Independence Day
RIGA, Nov 18 (LETA) - A number of events will take place in Riga today to mark Latvia’s Independence Day.
The celebrations began with a flower-laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument at 10:30 a.m.
Saeima will convene for a ceremonious session at 12 p.m., which will also be attended by President Edgars Rinkevics and Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity).
The National Armed Forces' parade at the 11th November Embankment will start at 1:30 p.m.
Several concerts will take place in Riga today, including at VEF Culture Center, Ave Sol concert hall, Ziemelblazma Culture Center, Latvian War Museum, Small Guild Hall and elsewhere.
A number of popular musicians will take part in a gala concert at the Freedom Monument at 7 p.m., which will feature a laser show and an address by Rinkevics at 8 p.m.
