Residents of Daugavpils increasingly willing to take Johnson & Johnson jab against Covid-19
RIGA, Aug 5 (LETA) - The opportunity to receive the single-shot Johnson & Johnson jab increased demand for vaccination against Covid-19 in Latvia's second largest city Daugavpils this week, the local government informed LETA.
In recent days, people have been standing in lines to get their Johnson & Johnson shots at the vaccination site set up at the Ditton shopping center in Daugavpils. Medics that are providing the immunization service said that the supplies of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are large enough in Daugavpils.
Covid-19 vaccines, including Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson jabs, will be available at the Ditton center throughout this week, the local government informed.
Medics called on people to book their appointments to avoid queuing.
As reported, 35.87 percent of Latvia's population have so far received the first dose of the Covid-19 jab and 36.76 percent have completed the immunization process. The percentage of fully vaccinated people slightly exceeds the percentage of people who have only received the first shot because many have been inoculated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine that does not require a second dose.
So far this week, an average of 5,092 persons are being vaccinated per day, compared to 5,135 last week.
