Five employees and 22 patients test positive for Covid-19 in Mazsalaca hospital
RIGA, Feb 15 (LETA) - Five employees and 22 patients of the palliative care at Mazsalaca hospital have been tested positive for Covid-19, LETA learned from Mazsalaca county spokeswoman Anete Gluha.
As reported, of the 424 new Covid-19 cases registered in Latvia on Saturday, 28 were registered in Mazsalaca county, where the 14-day cumulative incidence has increased to 40 cases.
Gluha said that the outbreak in the county is related with the new cases at Mazsalaca hospital, but separate cases were detected also outside the hospital.
The first Covid-19 case in the hospital was detected on February 11.
Gluha also reported that this is the first case detected in hospital since the Covid-19 pandemic started. Early this year some of the employees received vaccines, but, in line with the vaccination plan, vaccines have not been available to the clients yet.
