    Independence Day to be celebrated with concerts at Freedom Monument and in Riga's neighborhoods

    Riga, Nov 7 (LETA) - The 107th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia will be celebrated on November 18 with concerts at the Freedom Monument and in Riga's neighborhoods, LETA was informed by the Riga City Council.

    According to the municipality, the 90th anniversary of the Freedom Monument will also be celebrated on November 18 this year. The monument was unveiled on November 18, 1935.

    A festive event and concert "Mantojums"("Heritage") will take place on November 18 at 7 pm in Freedom Square.

    Families are invited to take part in the concert, which will highlight the most important thing - heritage and its transmission to future generations.

    At 8 pm, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics will address the nation and the Latvian national anthem will be played.

    This will be followed by a laser, sound and light show, repeated every hour until 11 pm.

    A concert "Latvijas Skanu Raksti" ("Latvian Sound Patterns") will be held at the VEF Culture Palace at 3 pm, featuring the Riga Orchestra, soloists Marcis Auzins and Karlis Auzins, and conductor Valdis Butans.

    At the same time, the Culture Centre Ilguciems will host a festive concert "Latviesu klasika un musdienas" ("Latvian Classics and Modern Times") with soloists of the Latvian National Opera Inga Slubovska-Kancevica and Rihards Macanovskis.

    The concert "Roka simfonija Latvijai" ("Rock Symphony for Latvia") will take place at the Culture Palace Ziemelblazma at 4 pm.

    The concert "Tu mana zeme. Tu mana Latvija" ("You are my land. You are my Latvia"), featuring the mixed choir Sonore and the Kuldiga Culture Centre chamber choir Rate, will be held in the Small Guild concert hall.

    At 7 pm, Mirage Jazz Orchestra, mixed choir Muklajs of the culture centre Ilguciems and its artistic director Janis Kokins invite to a festive concert "Iedvesmoti Latvijai" ("Inspired for Latvia") at the culture centre Imanta.

    At 5 pm, concert "Uguni rudits" ("Forged in fire") by folklore group Vilkaci will take place in the concert hall Ave Sol.
