RIGA, Oct 15 (LETA) - Pauls Stradins University Hospital soon plans to open another admission point for Covid-19 patients, the hospital's representative Janita Veniberga reported.

She denied information that there has been a line of more than ten ambulance cars by the hospital. She said that there had been a line but of some six to eight ambulance cars waiting.

"Still, it is quite many, also today many Covid-19 patients have been brought to hospital, and their admission is not as fast as that of other patients," she said.

Veniberga said that the burden on medics is huge, but they are aware that there will be even more Covid-19 patients, therefore the hospital plans to open another admission for Covid-19 patients.

As reported, Latvia confirmed 2,142 new Covid-19 cases and 12 persons died of the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, according to information released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC). This is the third day in a row in which new Covid-19 infections has exceeded 2,100. Yesterday, a new record in daily infection was set - 2,408.

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population rose from 1,056.8 to 1,110.4, which also is a new record.

The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals has exceeded 900.
