RIGA, May 25 (LETA) - Due to a reduction in support for Ukrainian refugees, 570 refugees need to be relocated to other accommodation, Riga Municipal Police's deputy chief Andrejs Aronovs told a press conference on Monday.

According to the government's decision, support for accommodation of refugees in tourist accommodation facilities has been reduced from EUR 20 to EUR 15 per day, and catering for refugees from EUR 15 to EUR 10.

Following the government's decision, several tourist accommodation facilities have said that they can no longer accommodate refugees. Aronov explained a total of 570 people had to be relocated.

Yesterday, 200 refugees were relocated to other accommodation, another 200 will be relocated today, and the rest on Monday.

After the government' decision and several hotels' statement that Ukrainian refugees staying there would have to leave, many refugees got into a panic, but Riga Municipal Police and Riga Social Service informed them that they would not be left without a shelter under no circumstances.

In total, around 2,000 refugees from Ukraine are staying in tourist accommodation facilities in Riga.
